Bad Essen in Lower Saxony
This commune I have visited on Friday 28.03.2025 with the local buses from Osnabrück.

Bad Essen is located in the North East of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony, it has 16,000 residents. It is a spa town for its brine. Even the open-air swimming-pool is a brine pool.
The center
In the center of the commune, there is the Saint Nikolai church that was built in the 14th century. Around the church there is the Kirchplace with some restaurants. Yes, they already opened because it was a warm day. Near the restaurants, there are little shops that are so typically for a commune.
The mountain
Near the center there is the little mountain Sonnenbrink with a high about 175 meters. You can walk the signposted and sometimes steep paths to the tower, where you can watch the panorama. The tower only has spiral stairs to the first platform. The second platform is not reachable for visitors because there are the transmitting antennas for the mobile devices.

Now in the end of March the trees have no leaves so that they look bare.
The attractions
In the south of the center there is the Schwanenpond that brings water to a water mill with an overshot wheel. This water mill was built in 1780.

In the north of the center is the Mittelland canal that connects the town Rheine with Berlin. The commune Essen also has a little marina.
