Change from Fedora 26 to Fedora 27
On Corpus Christi some colleagues must work, because the bank holiday is not in whole Germany. I have free after I had to work on other days between a bank holiday and a weekend. In German you call it: „Brückentag“
The End of Life (EOL) of Fedora 26 began yesterday and I don’t have a unsafe operating system on my pc. In my thoughts there was an option to change completely to Debian 9 on this pc but then I had to install it completely new.
I decided to change from Fedora 26 to Fedora 27. On the last time I did the way over the command line (my favourite tool) from Fedora 25 to Fedora 26 and this time I did it, too.
The changing looks like an normal upgrade of your packages.
You have to download all the packages and then it installs it.
The important order is:
dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=27
and the second:
dnf system-upgrade reboot
that’s all. The operating system takes over all your settings.
Of course before you do it, you must do your backup of your data. I never have been problems with my data but it would not be amiss to safe all your data on an external drive.
I had to wait two hours. It is a short time. Why? You need not install everything once after a normal installation. If you do a normal installation from a disk or flash drive you must install afterwards all your favourite programs.
With the Fedora 27 the kernel version 4.16.12-200 was installed. Fedora 26 had installed the kernel 4.16.11-100 in the last days.
And in Fedora 27 I have LibreOffice 5.4.
